As the first wind turbines come out of the water one after another, wind farm managers are faced with increasingly severe operation and maintenance tests such as turbine oil changes. The gearbox is one of the core components of a wind turbine. In order to ensure the efficient and stable operation of the fan, the lubrication performance of the gearbox must be ensured. Therefore, gearbox lubrication management, especially gearbox oil change, has become an important task that wind power operators should not ignore.
The lubricants used in gearboxes consist of a variety of base oils and additives. Typical fluids may be mineral or synthetic oils, which may be compatible with each other. Therefore, it is important to determine the compatibility of the lubricants prior to an oil change. If compatible, it is a low-risk oil change, generally "off" and "on". However, if more than 3% of the old oil remains in the system, it is recommended to include a "flush" process; if not, it is a high risk oil change. It is recommended that the gearbox is flushed first to remove the old oil from the gearbox to minimize its contamination of the new oil and to achieve the superior performance and long life of the new oil to ensure efficient operation of the turbine. Special attention should be paid to the clogging of the oil filter when circulating the flushing oil to ensure a smooth oil change process.
Fan gearbox oil change procedures generally include draining, flushing and filling. Proper oil change procedures can ensure lubrication performance and normal operation of the equipment, optimize gear lubrication performance, extend oil change intervals and filter replacement intervals, and improve the life of the gearbox and the productivity of the fan.
Wind turbine oil change is an unavoidable task in the operation and maintenance of wind farms, and is one of the keys to the stable operation of wind farms. Artificial oil change is not only labor-intensive and dangerous for maintenance personnel, but also artificial oil change causes long time downtime of wind turbine, which greatly increases the cost of oil change, on the other hand, the traditional oil change method can't completely remove the old oil in the gear box, and the cleanliness of the new oil can't be guaranteed, which affects the service life of the gear box and the filter.
