Greece is a very sustainable country with abundant wind energy resources. As a clean and renewable energy source, wind power has gained a lot of attention and application in Norway. Here is a case study of a wind turbine project in Greece.

The project is located on an island off the southern coast of Greece, called "Utsira". The island has a small wind power system consisting of 40 5KW vertical axis wind turbines that provide a steady supply of electricity to the islanders.

We first measured and studied the local wind speed and geography, and finally decided on the reliability and cost effectiveness of a new wind power technology, direct-drive wind power. Under this technology, a traditional gearbox is no longer needed, and the generator is connected directly to the wind turbine, a design that minimizes mechanical failures and maintenance costs.

Construction of the project began in 2021 at a total cost of over $200,000. The direct-drive wind power technology used in the project is still in the experimental stage worldwide, but the project ultimately achieved the desired results, demonstrating the reliability and cost effectiveness of direct-drive wind power technology. The project has also laid a solid foundation for the application and diffusion of Greek wind power technology in the world.
